Writing training: coaching & workshops

Everybody writes and everybody speaks. But doing so clearly and confidently doesn’t always come naturally, especially in the workplace.

Broom & Moon’s workshops and one-to-one coaching can help you and your team talk to clients and colleagues confidently — and in a way that inspires them to action.

Our training is for you and your team if you want to:

  • create punchy reports that elicit action

  • tell stories that inspire your employees, investors or clients

  • put an end to email chasing

  • learn strategies to beat writer’s block

  • gain the confidence to break free of old habits and try something new

  • structure writing for maximum impact

  • save time rewriting others’ work (because it’s confusing or the tone is off)

  • ditch the corpspeak for a more human and creative style

  • design and deliver persuasive presentations that audiences love (no more “death by Powerpoint”)

Writing and presenting: group workshops

We know from experience that the most effective writing training is directly relevant to your day-to-day work.

So we don’t do off-the-shelf sessions. Instead, we develop tailored workshops that are highly practical, hands-on and structured around real-life examples of your team’s writing.

For this reason, no two workshops are the same, but a session might typically cover how to:

  • Ditch corpspeak for warm, friendly, human language

  • Structure writing for maximum impact

  • Uncover and craft compelling stories

  • Interview people to get to the story

  • Devise irresistible headlines

  • Apply tone of voice guidelines consistently and appropriately

How it works:

We usually recommend two half-day workshops — to allow for reflection and practice between sessions.

We try to limit classes to a maximum of eight to allow for class discussion and instructor feedback.

One-to-one coaching for writing and presenting

One-to-one coaching can be transformative for any team member who struggles to express themselves clearly — particularly if feedback from colleagues has had little effect.

Sessions are an opportunity to get an impartial perspective from an expert communicator skilled in explaining how to make writing or presenting more powerful.

We’ve coached:

  • CEOs

  • senior economists

  • legal professionals

  • marketers

  • food writers

  • entrepreneurs

  • recruitment consultants

  • internal comms specialists

  • policy-makers

How it works

Typically, writing coaching sessions last around 30-60 minutes. You’ll meet with your coach once a week or once a fortnight – whatever works with your schedule and the projects you have on the go. Most sessions are held online.

Every session will be structured around a “live” job you’re working on right now, so you get in-depth personalised feedback on real examples of your own writing.

Everything you share with your coach is confidential.
